Latest Review from BBW Reviewers!

The After Party
Why Women Wear Shoes They Know Will Eventually Hurt Their Feet by H. Renay Anderson

Mardi Gras Publishing - 2nd Publication 11/2006 (e-book)
 1-934329-04-5
Reviewer: Kim Robinson

Valerie, a size 14 with a low self-esteem, had been through the ringer.   I know so many women who have been through the trials that Valerie suffered. She married a man and after having two children with him, he turned out to be less than what was expected. He was on drugs and when he robbed their home to finance his habit she knew it was time to file for divorce. Click here to continue the review http://www.bbwreviewers.com/afterparty.htm

One of My Contributions to Black History Month

To celebrate Black History month we need to remember the past heroes
and heroine's that came before us. Also we need to remember their
tremendous courage in the face of adversity! We can do it too!

Review comment from Rita on "The After Party..."!

"Renay,
It would be good to meet someone like Valerie. I really enjoyed the book. I like to read stories like that. I think I have all of Terry McMillan's Books."

Thanks Rita!  Funny thing is Terry McMillan and authors like her have that 'down-to-earth' approach to writing that I first fell in love with!

Thanks for your support!

    My latest news!

2006 was a great year for me as far as my writing career was concern!  In August of 2006 I had a short story published in the book ‘Chicken Soup for the African American Woman’s Soul’. The title is ‘Walking the Lessons of Life’. Next my first book ‘The After Party…’was re-released by Mardigras Publishing in November of 2006. Then I had another story accepted in the book ‘How I Met My Sweetheart’ by Amani Publishing. It will be released in February 2007. In addition I had a poem accepted for the upcoming 2007 release of ‘Gumbo for The Soul: The Recipe for Literacy in the Black Community’ Anthology #1.
    Happy New Year 2007!

    Knowing what really is important!

My family and I just had a reality check!  My Mom became seriously ill after Christmas this year.  Talking about putting priorities in order!  I forgot about everything and nothing seemed to matter except being with her and praying that she made it through!

I am so happy and grateful to God that she did!  Thanks to all of you who knew about her illness and took the time out to pray and wish for her full recovery.

I will never forget your kindness!

A Day with Kelly Ann King Alias “BajanDahlia” or “Dahlia Rose!

According to Dahlia Rose (Kelly) she grew up with the sand between her toes and the smell of fruits and the sea in her nose. This emerging author is from Barbados and she knew at a young age that she IS a true romantic at heart!

    Interview

Renay: Tell us how you came to write “Love and Lights ”.

Kelly: Love and Lights came about from one night talking to a friend. He happened to be SWAT officer in New York and complained he would be spending Christmas alone. I decided to give him a Christmas romance even if it was fictional.  His response to reading the story was to never use his real name and don’t let the guys at the precinct find out. (smile)

Renay: Where does the story take place and how did you choose the locale?

Kelly:  The story takes place in New York City. I chose this locale because I lived there for a while and loved the city so much. Plus New York is known for some of the hottest Cops… (smile)

Renay: Give us a brief synopsis

Kelly:  My book Love and Lights is a Christmas story like no other. When Victor Cantrell, a tough New York Police officer is hurt in the line of duty. It puts things in perspective for him. He realizes that when he broke up with his ex three years ago It was the biggest mistake he ever made. He  tries to woe his ex girlfriend Rachel back with the help of Rachel’s parents he gets to see her. Needless to say she is not happy to see him and being stuck in her parent’s apartment in the middle of a blizzard with the man that broke her heart does not sit well with Rachel. Sparks fly when these two get together.

Renay: Do you have an agent and if so, how did you find him/her?

Kelly: I have a publicist and her name is Melinda Berrara. She is great and  you can find her at mybookcravings@attwb.ner.

Renay: What problems if any, did you have in completing the story?

Kelly: This story was fun and easy for me to complete. It just flowed exactly how I wanted it to and I finished it with in a week. I wish all of them would go this way

Renay: Who is the publisher of this book, how did you find your publisher and what was the process working with them?

Kelly: The publisher of this book is Mardi Gras Publishing (mardigraspublishing.com). I found them totally by chance. Love and Lights was not the first manuscript that was accepted by Mardi Gras. It was my third, I sent them my first manuscript after a friend referred me to their site. I was amazed and delighted when they accepted all three. They are great and working with them is like working with a big family.

Renay: What else would you like to tell us about you?

Kelly: I am mother of four wonderful yet crazy kids…(smile) I amcurrently engaged to w wonderful man who is a soldier in the Army.

Renay: What are you working on now?

Kelly:  I just finished two manuscripts which are currently out for submission. (keeping my fingers crossed..smile). They are *The Soulmate’s curse* and *When Angel’s Fall*.  The first one listed is my Valentine werewolf story and the second is a Novel about a vampire and his love battling evil forces. I am about three chapter’s in to *Gideon’s Fire* my foray into the life an Amazon woman who has to bathe for he people and Gideon whose internal fire is to help her do this. All my books are contemporary erotica and they are set in the here and now.

Renay: Where can readers purchase (Love and Lights)?
